ASUS Announces Free Upgrading of
Windows Mobile 6 to Windows Mobile 6.1
Users who have previously bought Windows Mobile 6.0 enabled ASUS PDA phones will now have the opportunity to be the first to experience the new Windows Mobile 6.1. This exercise will allow users to obtain a free upgrade to their phone operating systems starting from August for download from the official website.
WM6.1 has continued WM6.0's convenience in operations, and increased the user-friendliness of commonly used functions – allowing users to more easily utilize the handphone upon first use. This new version (WM6.1) contains six main upgraded features:
- New Task Manager Application helps users better manage their device's memory and battery life by allowing them to shut down and switch applications and programs for the best performance.
- With OneNote Mobile, users can take notes on their phones, and then synchronize the notes to the full version of Microsoft Office Mobile OneNote on a PC easily.
- Threaded SMS Messaging allows SMS text messages to be organized by conversations into a single thread - making it easy to track past messages.
- Contact List Improvements directly displays "restricted calls" and "system service numbers"
- Pocket Internet Explorer provides a new Zoom function that allows full page zooming in IE – allowing users to zoom in on a webpage to view small text or images and make reading more convenient.
